I don't agree with the point in the OP that scalpers are setting a price that's higher than MSRP, so Sony, Microsoft, etc, are bumping up their MSRP as a response to that. Whatever it's for they bought up all of the supply of consoles, graphics cards, and other in-demand products, and tried to sell them at higher prices preventing people interested in playing games from actually getting the consoles. Scalpers, automated bot accounts buying devices, etc. But it doesn’t feel like it’s going to be a given to upgrade when the time is right.ĭo you think that scalpers have a hand with what’s happening with our market? And if so, what can we do about it?įor sure. I still think it’s the right decision because there are other benefits. It feels as if I joined at the wrong time. It’s scary to see the prices that are being asked for the 40xx or even 30xx series. I myself decided to get into PC gaming recently. We are seeing real changes where certain demographics are getting priced out of the hobby. And Nividia is asking scalper prices instead of the scalpers themselves. Sony is increasing prices left and right, thinking they can get away with it. It feels like these events have affected companies like Sony and Nividia. The Nividia GPU craze has also been weird to observe. People were getting desperate paying ridiculous prices and doing all kinds of things. Observing the launch of the PS5 was quite something. Many games are way too expensive to get hold of now, whether they’re retro, niche or something else. Yet, it feels like things have gotten worse and worse gradually. I remember how the wii was selling out and people were having difficulties getting hold of them.
